Who is it? How do we find it? As I look around in this day and age I feel this is a question, and something more and more people are searching for. What we had known as truth like human biology, gender, conception to birth (as examples) have all been questioned and there is some ideology out there that is absolutely crazy and evil. Meriam Webster defines truth as the body of real things, events and facts: Actuality. As Christians we know what truth is for we
have been given it in the form of the Bible. Everything we question and search for in this world is laid out in the word of God. So, we need to speak it, know it, spread it, hold onto it, and let others know of the love God the Father has for them. In John 14:5 Thomas says to Jesus, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way? And Jesus’ response is like a mic drop when we really think about it. His response in verse 6: “I am the WAY and the TRUTH and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me.”BOOM! He does not say that he is A way, A truth or A life but THE one and only. Some of you who doubt as Thomas did will say this is a very bigoted and arrogant response, but once you have Jesus Christ alive in your heart you will know without a doubt how true it is. This leads to why I am writing this.
As president of Finding Freedom Ranch, it is our vision that through this truth found only in the Gospel we can help young adolescents struggling with an eating disorder be set free. For as Jesus says in John 8:31-32:To the Jews who had believed him, “if you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the TRUTH will set you free.” We at Finding Freedom Ranch are convicted on the truth of the Gospel and as disciples of Jesus Christ are ready to bring healing to those struggling with an eating disorder in and through these truths. As I stated earlier about some of the crazy and evil ideology in this world, another truth is that this is the devil, and he is alive and at work to take away the freedoms we have in a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible warns us of this in 1 Peter 5:8.Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Oh how he is on the prowl devouring those who do not have the truth of Jesus Christ written on their hearts and minds today.
In conclusion I would like to end by breaking down the Meriam Webster definition of truth using the truth we as Christians have been given in the Gospel. Truth: the body of real things, events and facts. THE truth is Jesus’ body was broken and his blood was poured out on a cross at a place called Golgatha. And the fact is he did this because He loves you and I and wants to free us from the wages of sin and death of this world.
This can all be summed up in Romans 16:17-20.I urge you brothers and sisters , to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
